We hope you are all enjoying the nice weather and preparing for an awesome Spring softball season.  In light of the new emergence of the "COVID-19" virus we wanted to send out a quick email that we hope eases some anxiety that parents may have with the approaching season.

As with many viruses and diseases (seasonal influenza/flu,stomach bugs, pink eye, hand, foot, and mouth), we wanted to make sure that all teams are taking proactive steps to address the number of concerns parents and players may have.

With the increasing number of cases of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) being reported across the world, SJGSA  we will continue to monitor and keep abreast of the situation while aiming to make real time decisions on travel and participation (in the event any issues arise). Our main priority is the safety and well-being of our players, coaches and umpires and we will continue to update you as the situation requires.

Best Practices for Health:
There is currently no vaccine to prevent the Coronavirus. The best way to prevent illness is to avoid being exposed. Everyday preventive actions should be taken:

Avoid close contact with people who are sick.

Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.

Stay home when you are sick.

Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.

Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.

Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.

If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. Always wash hands with soap and water if hands are visibly dirty.

Clean frequently touched surfaces, as well as practice equipment including helmets, face masks, bats, gloves, balls, dug outs/ bleachers etc.  Parents and players are personally responsible for caring for their equipment and should follow all recommended cleaning instructions to avoid damage.

If possible - having alcohol-based hand sanitizers / antibacterial soap / available for usage during games / practices

If teams wish, they are permitted to do a "glove slap" vs a hand slap at the end of games and both will count towards good sportsmanship. Please use time prior to the start of the game to discuss.

Our primary commitment and focus at all times is the health and safefty of our softball community.
